We were absolutely delighted when we received our photos from our photographer from the wedding. All 427 of them. It was so much fun going through them all and it was like we were reliving the day again. It was such a wonderful day and one that we will never forget.
We stayed at a wonderful boutique hotel in Sydney called the Sir Stamford and we both got ready there. The girls came in early to get our hair and make up done and Uwe left to join the boys for some food and wine before getting ready. Us girls were ready quite early and had plenty of time to have some lunch and relax while listening to some music and chilling out. The day just ran so smoothly, we couldn't have planned it any better.
The ceremony was in the Herb Garden in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney. We had a string quartet playing while the guests started to arrive and while I walked down the aisle. We had a friend of Uwes translate the ceremony into German and Uwe said his vows in German so his family could understand. When we were exchanging rings, it started to rain. It only lasted for about 15 minutes, but we had lots of big umbrellas so we didn't get too wet. The gardens were absolutely lovely, they were so green and we got lots of great pictures there.
After having some photos done, we walked down to the Opera House where a ferry was waiting to take us on a trip around the harbour where we could mingle with all our guests for a while before taking us to the reception at the Dunbar House in Watsons Bay. It was very windy on the boat but thankfully the rain held off and everyone seemed to love the boat ride. The ferry was an old wooden boat with lots of character and style.
The Dunbar House was spectacular. It is an old heritage building near the waters edge and we had the run of the whole house. The food was delicious and after dinner we danced all night. Damian organised an Australian version of the Neubrunner Pfefferhafen wedding song, it was sung to the tune of Waltzing Matilda and was fantastic. It was sung beautifully by Damian, Penny, Jen, Guido & Jon. We all had such a wonderful day celebrating.
