Sydney Swans and the 2012 Grand Final

The Sydney Swans had a fantastic season this year.  They finished 3rd on the ladder with 16 wins and 6 losses.  For most of the season they were leading the competition.  They did what every team dreams of doing and made the AFL grand final.  Which of course meant, that we would be going to Melbourne to watch the game at the MCG.  It was Uwe and Sebastian's first time at the MCG.  For Vivien and I, it was our 3rd grand final there.

We took a flight down to Melbourne early Friday morning so Uwe could work from the office there while Sebastian and I went shopping for the day.  We went to our hotel in the evening and met up with Vivien and went to have dinner at the German Hofbrauhaus.  There was plenty of food, drinks and German music.

Saturday morning, we got ready to go to the big game.  We were all very excited.  Aunty Vivien got lots of cuddles from Sebastian.  We were all wearing the red and white colours and away we went to the game.

The Melbourne weather was unpredictable, as usual.  The forecast was for cold and rainy weather.  On our way there it started to rain.  Then when we got inside the ground, the sun came out and became warm.  Then the rain was back and very cloudy and cold.  It was four seasons in one day.

It was a fantastic game, one of the best games ever.  It could have gone either way.  But the Swans pulled it off and won the game by 10 points.  It was a nail biter and after the final siren went, we all couldn't stop jumping up and down cheering.

Sebastian was well behaved the whole game.  He never cried and wasn't scared of the cheering or booing from the other people around us.  He slept through the first half but then was ready to cheer them on in the last half.  But, by the end of the day he was tired and wanted to go home.  He is their lucky charm - the Swans have never lost a game that Sebastian has been too!

Sebastians First Birthday

Today Sebastian turned one!!  We organised a small party for him on the rooftop to celebrate.  After having his bottle in the morning, he was excited to open his presents, though he was more interested in the wrapping paper than the presents.  You loved playing with the balloons and you always tried to pop them!

After his morning sleep, we made our way up to the rooftop to celebrate.  He loved to just walk everywhere, while all the grown ups enjoyed a nice bbq cooked by daddy.

It was such a nice day, the kids enjoyed swimming in the pool, although the lap pool was too cold and the spa was really hot!  Even Sebastian wanted to get in the pool for a quick swim.  Then we sang Happy Birthday to the birthday boy and had dessert, yum!  Thanks to my mum for all the amazing food!

We went to Watsons Bay for the first birthday party of one of Sebastians playgroup friends.  It was a gorgeous sunny day.  Sebastian couldn't stop playing with all the balloons, he loved them.

Running around everywhere

Theres no stopping Sebastian now.  Walking everywhere and oh so cute.  He now walks out of our unit and down to the car instead of using his pram.  He loves us to chase him or he chases us.

Fun boy

Sebastian is so adorable when he wakes up in the morning, he just wants to play and have fun.  He loved playing peek a boo through the bars of his cot.

Peek a boo

Sebastian loves to play peek a boo, not just us hiding our faces and saying peek a boo but he  actually plays himself by putting his hands in front of his eyes and moving them away!  A big smile comes on his face when we say peek a boo after he has done that.  So cute.

Fathers Day

It was Uwe's first fathers day and we were all sick :(  We spent most of the day inside resting but did manage to head downstairs for a quick bite for lunch.
